ANNUAL SPORTS DAY - 2025 (FIESTAPROVITA)

SRM College of Nursing hosted its flagship sports event, “Fiestaprovita 2025,” on February 27 and 28, 2025, at the prestigious A.G. Milkha Singh Stadium, SRMIST. Organized from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on both days, the sports meet brought together students from B.Sc Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, and Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) programs in a spirited celebration of fitness, competition, and community.

The inaugural ceremony began with a formal welcome address by Prof. Dr. Helen Shaji, Dean of SRM College of Nursing, who emphasized the crucial role sports play in building teamwork, discipline, and resilience—qualities that are indispensable to future nursing professionals. The ceremony featured a march past by house contingents and the lighting of the sports torch, which was carried around the stadium by top athletes—Mr. Shyam E., Mr. Vasanth P., Mr. Teenustar J., and Mr. Kamal K., all final-year B.Sc Nursing students. This was followed by the official commencement of the sports events with the lighting of the flame.

The event was structured around four house teams—Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green—encouraging team participation and healthy rivalry. A comprehensive line-up of sports was included: team games like cricket, football, volleyball, throwball, kho-kho, kabaddi, and individual events such as carrom, chess, javelin throw, discus throw, 100m and 400m sprints, relays, and badminton.

A total of 283 students participated in various events, showcasing determination, skill, and enthusiasm. The highlight of Fiestaprovita 2025 was the seamless coordination, inclusive participation, and electric atmosphere that filled the stadium with cheer and unity. The Dean personally congratulated all participants and house captains for their sportsmanship and leadership, encouraging continued engagement in physical activities as part of their professional journey.

Fiestaprovita 2025 was not just a sports event—it was a celebration of vitality, unity, and the holistic growth of students. It reinforced SRM College of Nursing’s commitment to fostering balanced education that integrates academic excellence with physical well-being and leadership development.

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY - 2024

The Annual Sports Day 2024 of SRM College of Nursing was conducted with great fervor on April 22 and 27, 2024, at the college sports ground. Held in two sessions- morning (8:00 AM – 9:30 AM) for outdoor events and afternoon (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM) for indoor games-the celebration provided a much-anticipated break from academic routine, allowing students to demonstrate their athletic talents and engage in recreational activities.

The students were organized into four dynamic teams-Red House, Blue House, Yellow House, and Green House-each bringing its own unique spirit and energy to the competitions. The sports line-up included popular team games such as cricket, football, volleyball, throwball, kho-kho, kabaddi, and individual events such as running races (100m, 200m, 400m), discus throw, javelin throw, long jump, short put, chess, carrom, and badminton.

More than 274 students took part in these events, enthusiastically competing and displaying outstanding skills and sportsmanship. Faculty members also contributed by coordinating and encouraging students, making the event more engaging and inclusive.

Highlights of the event included thrilling relay races, strategic chess and carrom showdowns, and energetic performances in kabaddi and kho-kho. Winners and runners-up in individual and team categories were recognized during the award ceremony, instilling a sense of accomplishment and motivation among the participants.

Annual Sports Day 2024 reaffirmed SRM College of Nursing’s commitment to creating a balanced academic environment that supports students’ physical and mental well-being through active engagement in sports.

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY - 2023

SRM College of Nursing, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, successfully conducted its Annual Sports Day on April 12 and 13, 2023, at the college’s sports ground located opposite the Dental College. This two-day event was an exciting celebration of athleticism and unity, designed to foster physical fitness, camaraderie, and healthy competition among nursing students.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Albert, Head of the Department of Physical Education, SRM University. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the vital role of sports in fostering discipline, resilience, and teamwork—qualities essential to the nursing profession. The day commenced with a vibrant assembly of students grouped into four houses: Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green, each symbolizing energy, enthusiasm, and team pride.

The Sports Day featured a wide range of competitive events spanning both indoor and outdoor disciplines. Students enthusiastically participated in sports including cricket, football, volleyball, throwball, kho-kho, shuttle badminton, carrom, and chess, as well as track and field events such as javelin throw, discus throw, 100-meter and 400-meter sprints, and 4×100-meter relay races. More than 297 students from various nursing programs competed, demonstrating sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the events.

The atmosphere was one of joy and unity, as the cheering crowds and competitive enthusiasm created an unforgettable experience. At the end of the two-day event, winners were awarded medals and certificates of appreciation. The success of Sports Day 2023 was a testament to the college’s commitment to the holistic development of students, recognizing that physical education plays a crucial role in shaping confident and well-rounded nursing professionals.
